The Alfonso del Mar Resort in Chlie is home to the largest swimming pool in the world.

The Largest Swimming Pool in the World

You would have to travel to Chile for that. It is there, at the San Alfonso del Mar resort that you can swim, scuba dive, kayak, windsurf and even do some sailing in the largest swimming pool in the world.
The pool is larger than 10 football pitches, measuring in at 1,013m (3,323ft) long and, at its maximum depth, reaches 3.5m (11.5ft), which firmly puts it in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest pool in the world.
If you were to do one ‘length’ of the pool you would have swam more than half a mile! The pool itself took more than five years to construct and cost £2 million / €2.75 million.
So next time you’re in Chile, get yourself to the San Alfonso del Mar resort and have a dip in the largest swimming pool in the world. Want to know more? You can check out the resort here.

The Deepest Swimming Pool in the World

Probably not something you will find at your average holiday complex or luxury resort, but this is the deepest swimming pool in the world. Measuring a depth of 138 feet (or 42 meters), this pool is now the star attraction at the Hotel Millepini, located in the Montegrotto Terme resort area, near Venice. The pool even has its own name; Y-40 Deep Joy.
It is filled with nearly 45 million litres of water is pumped in from local springs. This allows divers to swim without ‘skinsuits’ normally required for diving in such depths in open water. The pool is fitted with artificial caves allowing scuba divers to practice before entering caves and similar environments in the sea. It also has a viewing platform surrounding it, allowing spectators to watch divers in action. Our advice though is to make sure you don’t drop anything that does not float because you are basically diving into a pool that is 12 storeys deep!
